Eurwagni Beach

I went to the beach last weekend, but it was still too cold to go swimming for very long.
I still had a good time though, and got to observe the beach-going habits of the natives.
To get there, we had to take the subway and then transfer to a bus. The entire trip took way longer than expected, a good three hours. We picked up breakfast at Dunkin Donuts on the way. I got an English breakfast muffin with soggy bacon and plastic cheese. Ick. I'll have to actually try a donut from there one of these days (they have stores everywhere!).
By the time we got there, it was once again time for food! The prices were inflated due to the vacation status of our destination, but the food was definitely worth it.

Before lunch, we had explored the first beach area a bit. The tide was going out, so the beach was basically a long stretch of mud. We found a ton of hermit crabs, but it was just a tad too muddy. So we headed to the other beach, taking the seaside route and clambering over boulders and avoiding pools of water.

We made it!

Here comes Samantha
As soon as we found a spot to lounge, Samantha and I headed into the water. It was incredibly cold! We managed to stay in the water for about 15 minutes trying to get to the point where it didn't feel too cold anymore. It didn't work, so we headed back to shore. On the entire beach, I was the only person wearing a swim suit, and very few other people were even wading in the water. They mostly sat around fully clothed. Admittedly it was a little windy, but it was quite pleasant if you were dry and in the sun.

The sand was very coarse, like sprinkles!

There were, however, a ton of people sailing. Most of them launched close to us, so we had a great view of everything.

Even though it got really chilly toward the evening, we decided to stay and watch the sunset. I'm really glad we did, even if I was shivering by the end.

The trip back only took two hours, and since we'd only had snacks for dinner, Samantha and I split some omurice, a dish with Japanese origins.

The perfect ending to a perfect day (not counting the slightly chilly weather).
